Dates: Friday-Saturday, April 1st - 2nd, 2011
Time: Bus departs Friday morning at 8:00 AM from the Base Tour & Information Office building located at 9079 Hampton Blvd. next to Naval Station Norfolk’s Gate 5. Bus returns late Saturday afternoon.
Friday - Docent guided tours of the Virginia Historical Society, the Museum of the Confederacy and the Confederate White House. Late afternoon you are free to browse and dine in historic Shockoe Slip
Saturday - Morning: You are free to tour the State Capital and Governor’s Mansion. The bus is available to revisit the Virginia Historical Society and/or Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Afternoon: There is a guided tour of American Civil War Center at Tredegar after which we will return to Norfolk
Meals: A continental breakfast and box lunch is provided on Friday. All other meals are on your own. The hotel is the Richmond Omni located in the middle of Shockoe Slip and just across the street from the famous Tobacco Factory restaurant. The area boasts many varied and interesting dining opportunities.
Cost: $125 per person for bus and museum tickets.
Lodging: Omni Richmond Hotel. Call 1-800-843-6664 and mention you are with Hampton Roads Naval Historical Foundation. A special rate of $139 plus tax applies to attendees making reservations before March 2nd. Rates are per room/double occupancy. The hotel has offered to put us in their “Club Level access for Members” accommodations (based on availability at time of reservation). It would be a good idea to reserve early. You are responsible for booking your own reservation.
